MOSCOW, April 28 (RIA Novosti) - Excise duties on cigarettes will rise by 30% in 2007, a deputy finance minister of Russia said Friday.

Sergei Shatalov said the current combined taxation system would remain in place. He said the added value component would remain, but the structure of taxation would be changed.

The excise duty on cigarettes is currently 8% of the manufacturer's price, whereas 5% of the maximum retail price will be levied in 2007.

Shatalov also said excises for oil products would not be indexed in 2007 as in 2006, which Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov said earlier would help avoid increases in petrol and diesel fuel prices along with growing world prices.

Indexation on other excisable goods will be 8.5% to meet inflation.
