MOSCOW, May 11 (RIA Novosti) - Former Yukos boss Mikhail Khodorkovsky has been moved out of a solitary cell where he had been put for security reasons, the head of the federal penitentiary service said Thursday.
"He was transferred to the [solitary] cell for objective reasons," Yury Kalinin said. "Security measures were taken."
Khodorkovsky, currently serving an eight-year prison term in a penal colony in eastern Siberia, was put in a solitary cell April 20 after he had his nose slashed by a fellow inmate. Several stitches were applied to the wound, but doctors ruled against taking him to the hospital because the injury was not serious.
Khodorkovsky and his business partner Platon Lebedev were found guilty of tax evasion and fraud by a Moscow court in May 2005 and sentenced to nine years in prison. On September 22, the Moscow City Court reduced their terms to eight years.
