MOSCOW, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - VimpelCom (RTS: VIMP, NYSE: VIP) said Tuesday it had completed the placement of Eurobonds worth $600 million and due in 2016, with an annual coupon rate of 8.25%.

The issue includes $232.766 million Eurobonds floated in exchange for European papers with a yield of 10% and a maturity in 2009 and new Eurobonds worth $367.234 million, the company said.

Russia's no.2 cell phone operator earlier said the holders of Eurobonds maturing in 2009 would receive new papers at a similar par value and compensation calculated under the earlier announced terms.

VimpelCom is best known for the Beeline trademark in Russia and Kazakhstan, and also has newly acquired operations in Ukraine, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
