"We are considering making a financial contribution responding to the UN's appeal for emergency aid for Lebanon and transferring part of Russia's voluntary contribution to the budget of the UN high commissioner for refugees to the Lebanese," spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said.
Kamynin said Russia was also considering helping the country rebuild roads, bridges and other infrastructure. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to discuss the issue during a visit to Beirut next week.
Russia has provided $2 million worth aid to Lebanon during the crisis, when it sent four aircraft with goods requested by the Lebanese government to Cyprus, where they were passed to UN workers who delivered them to Lebanon.
The UN is presiding over humanitarian efforts and is to deploy 15,000 peacekeepers in southern Lebanon to ensure ceasefire after month-long fighting between the Lebanon-based Hizbollah radical group and Israel, which claimed the lives of more than 1,000 Lebanese and about 160 Israelis.
The Lebanese government is sending the same amount of troops to the region. Russia's participation in the international peacekeeping force is under consideration.
