NAZRAN, September 5 (RIA Novosti) - No one has been hurt in an explosion at a railroad crossing in southern Russia, police said Tuesday.
The incident happened in the east of the Republic of Ingushetia near the border with Chechnya.
"A powerful homemade explosive device blasted at a railroad crossing in the town of Karabulak at 1:00 p.m. Moscow time [9:00 a.m. GMT]," an Interior Ministry spokesman said.
He said the device was thought to have consisted of an aluminum bucket packed with explosives.
Ingushetia had been plagued by violence in recent weeks, including several fatal attacks targeting law-enforcement officers in August.
