GROZNY, November 27 (RIA Novosti) - A police officer has been killed in a car accident involving three vehicles from the Chechen president's motorcade, but it is unclear whether Alu Alkhanov was at the scene, police said Monday.
"According to preliminary reports, a car, driven by a drunken local resident, went on the wrong side of the highway and crashed into two Volga and one Zhiguli car which were part of President Alu Alkhanov's escort," a Chechen police spokesman said.
He said the accident took place Sunday on the 582nd kilometer of the Caucasus federal highway in the Republic of Ingushetia in Russia's North Caucasus, adding he has no information on Alkhanov's involvement in the accident, in which three people have also been injured, including a woman.
An investigation into the accident is under way, the spokesman said.
