MOSCOW, March 10 (RIA Novosti) - A national survey has found that almost three-quarters of Russians trust President Dmitry Medvedev, and more than 81% would not change their choice if asked to vote again.

According to the survey conducted by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM), trust in Medvedev has grown from 56% in 2006 to 73% in 2009. Only 16% of those polled said that they did not trust the current president, most of whom were supporters of the opposing Communist Party (KPRF) and the ultra-nationalist LDPR.

Of those who would not vote for Medvedev, their reasons were his "absence of effective work" and "non-fulfillment of promises" (30%). The second reason was "a higher level of trust toward [Prime Minister Vladimir] Putin" (28%).

Respondents said the main values that the president upholds are the rebirth of Russia and its world authority (14%) and an increase in living standards (13%). Another 11% said that Medvedev's main values are his social policies. Other positives noted were democratic values (6%), and anti-corruption measures (3%). Exactly half (50%) said they could not name the president's main values.

The survey was held on February 21 and 22, as well as on February 28 and March 1. A total of 1,600 Russians were polled in 140 cities and villages. The margin of error in the survey is no more than 3.4%.
