Six servicemen died in an explosion at a south Siberian military firing range, a police source told RIA Novosti on Monday.
The source said the blast occurred on Saturday near the Altai Territory town of Biysk during the disposal of out-of-date explosive material.
The Defense Ministry has not yet commented on the information.
This is the fourth deadly accident involving the disposal of explosives the Russian military has suffered in the last eight months.
One person was killed in a blast at a military training facility in central Russia’s Ryazan in June. A total of 10 servicemen died in two separate incidents in November 2009 at an arms depot in the city of Ulyanovsk, in Russia's Volga region.
