Police in Moscow detained on Sunday about 30 participants in an unauthorized rally in opposite City Hall, police in the Russian capital said.
"An unsanctioned event on Tverskaya Square in Moscow was attended by a total of some 60 representatives of opposition movements. About 30 of them were detained," a police spokesperson said.
He added that the attempted protest was covered by about 150 journalists.
The "Day of Wrath" protesters demand that Mayor Yury Luzhkov step down and the Moscow City Duma be dissolved to allow for early elections to the city parliament.
After their previous protest, which ended in similar fashion on August 12, the organizers announced they would hold another rally on September 12. They were denied permission to protest on Tverskaya Square on both occasions.
