Russia’s upper house of parliament unanimously approved, on September 30, the use of the country’s armed forces abroad following Syrian President Bashar Assad's request for military assistance in combating the Islamic State. Kremlin's decision relates only to the use of the Air Force and does not forsee any ground troops operations.
