Russian energy giant Gazprom denied on Tuesday media reports that it was holding talks with AC Milan on the purchase of a 25-30% stake in the Italian football club.
Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport reported earlier on Tuesday that AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi, who is an old friend of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, was considering selling a stake in the club for 150-180 million euros (some $185-222 million).
RIA Novosti was not able to reach AC Milan representatives for an official comment.
Gazprom already has a controlling stake in Zenit St. Petersburg and is a major sponsor of German club side Schalke 04.
