Russia's former IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (19-0, 14 KOs) will have two bouts before the end of this year, a manager for the Russian boxer said.
"We plan that Alexander will have two fights by the yearend. We are currently negotiating with potential opponents, who are famous boxers. I believe that we will soon announce the name of the contender," Vladimir Khryunov said.
The 30-year-old Russian was supposed to square off with IBF, WBO and IBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko (54-3, 28 KOs) of Ukraine on September 11, but the bout was called off due to disagreements over the terms of the contract.
This is the second time Povetkin has failed to meet Klitschko. The Russian was also scheduled to challenge the Ukrainian on December 13, 2008, but withdrew from the fight due to a leg injury around two months before the bout.
