Russia's Mikhail Youzhny has advanced to his second career U.S. Open tennis tournament semifinals after a tough quarterfinal victory over Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka.
Thursday's match in New York lasted exactly four hours with the Russian managing to outplay the Swiss 3-6, 7-6 (7), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
"For now I am happy with this result and the victory, but I want more," Youzhny said after the match.
The Russian, who played in the U.S. Open semifinals four years ago and lost, will face World No. 1 Rafael Nadal of Spain in the final.
