The Russian pair of Vera Zvonareva and Svetlana Kuznetsova will play in the final of the Australian Open after defeating Elena Vesnina and Sania Mirza in the doubles on Wednesday.
Zvonareva and Kuznetsova, who were not seeded for the tournament, beat Russia’s Vesnina and India’s Mirza 7-6, 2-6, 6-4 in a match characterized by a high number of unforced errors on both sides.
The Russian pair will play either Italy’s Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci or the Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka in the final.
