The Russian pair of Maria Kirilenko and Nadia Petrova have reached the women’s doubles final at the French Open after ousting Czech fifth seeds Lucia Hradecka and Andrea Hlavackova on Thursday.

The Russians came back from a set down to win 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 after the match, which lasted 2 hours 52 minutes and was continued from Wednesday because of rain.

Kirilenko and Petrova will now face the fourth-seeded pair of Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci in the final.

Depending on the result of her singles semifinal match with Samantha Stosur, Errani could appear in two finals at the tournament.

Petrova and Kirilenko have played together since the start of the season, reportedly with the aim of being considered for the London Olympic doubles event.

Kirilenko was a losing finalist in the women’s doubles at the 2011 Australian Open, when she played alongside Victoria Azarenka, now the world singles No. 1.
