Sweden's Sofia Arvidsson got off to a winning start in the first main-draw match of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow on Monday, beating Serbia's Bojana Jovanovski in straight sets.
World No. 46 Arvidsson disposed of Jovanovski, who is ranked nine places below her, in a tight match 6-2, 6-4.
The Swede will now face Marion Bartoli in the second round after the French second seed enjoyed a first-round bye.
