It seems that Donald Trump Jr. joined his father in his "war" against CNN as he posted "footage" of the US president launching a missile on a jet with a CNN logo in his Instagram.

The footage was edited using the original scene from the "Top Gun" movie. In the fake video footage, the US president was depicted as the pilot of a fighter jet chasing a military aircraft with the CNN logo. He pushes a red button and a bomb downs the "CNN jet."

"One of [t]he best I've seen," Trump Jr. wrote, adding laughing smiles. "Hey CNN we heard you like memes," he wrote.

However, some followers of Donald Trump Jr didn't enjoy his sense of humor and went on to criticize the Instagram post and accusing him of promoting "violence."

While some called the footage "epic" and a "legend," others pointed out it was inappropriate for a member of the US president's family to post such things.

"Shameful what the Presidency has come too. Does the President or his family need to respond in this manner?" an Instagram user wrote.

Trump "Attacks" 'Fake News' CNN in Twitter Post, Sparks Social Media Storm
"Seriously..how is any of this remotely acceptable. This is violence that you are promoting towards the free press is doing no good," another Trump Jr follower wrote.

The fake footage with President Donald Trump "attacking" CNN reminded of another one which was posted earlier by the US leader himself. On July 2, Trump posted on Twitter a video of himself "beating" a person whose face had been replaced by a CNN logo. Trump's "attack" on CNN took place outside of a boxing ring. The original event took place during WrestleMania 23 in 2007.

CNN responded the same day by mocking Trump's tweet citing White House deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders as saying that the US president "in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence."

Scandal Over Trump Jr. Meeting With Russian Lawyer ‘Much Ado About Nothing’
Interestingly, Trump Jr post followed after The New York Times report claiming that he had held an unreported meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, prompting new media speculations of US President Trump's campaign's alleged "collusion" with Russia, a claim repeatedly denied by the Trump administration and Moscow.

Since Trump assumed office, many US media outlets, including CNN, have accused the US president's team of having ties to the Kremlin. Trump has refuted these allegations and labelled the media involved in these speculations "fake news."

Previously, the US president also slammed the "failing" The New York Times, as well as CNN, NBC ABC and CBS over allegedly being "the enemy of the American People" and several other US media outlets over "fake news" reports.
