Strengthening of global nuclear non-proliferation is a priority area of the policy of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member countries, says CSTO memorandum adopted during the 7th Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in New York.
"The threat of proliferation of nuclear weapons, and related technologies and materials, especially with the spread of terrorist activities, presents one of the most serious challenges to global security," the joint statement of Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (CSTO members) says.
CSTO member countries praised the contribution of Belarus and Kazakhstan in strengthening the non-proliferation regime through voluntary creation of nuclear-free zones on their territory and called upon other NPT participants to confirm their adherence to the treaty.
