BEIJING, July 28 (RIA Novosti) - The United States and North Korea differ on the meaning of "denuclearizaton" and will unlikely reach a significant compromise during the fourth round of the six-nation talks on the North Korean nuclear problem, a Chinese analyst said Thursday. However the fact that three bilateral U.S.-North Korean meetings were held during the last week is encouraging, the analyst said. The bilateral meeting between the U.S. and North Korean delegations held earlier today lasted more than three hours, the analyst said, adding that the fourth round of talks will unlikely lead to breakthroughs in the U.S.-North Korean dialog as both parties again presented its position on the issue.
North Korean chief delegate Kim Gyo Gwang confirmed Pyongyang's position to pursue a principle of reciprocation with the United States.
A source close to the U.S. delegation said conditions set forth by Pyongyang are "obscure" and "unconcrete."
The fourth round of the six-nation talks involving Russia, North Korea, South Korea, the United States, China and Japan has been held in Beijing since July 26 to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear program.
Three rounds of the six-nation talks have been held to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear program. The fourth round scheduled for late October of 2004 was postponed when North Korean negotiators refused to participate, citing what they called a hostile climate created by the United States.
