MOSCOW, June 10 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Foreign Ministry declined to comment on media reports that a former Russian diplomat had been charged with sexually assaulting two Canadian citizens in a statement Saturday.
"The Russian Foreign Ministry will not comment on this information until the circumstances of the incident have been clarified," the ministry said.
Several media sources reported that Canadian police had issued an arrest warrant for a former Russian diplomat accused of sexually assaulting two men near the Canadian capital, Ottawa.
The Ottawa Sun reported Saturday that local police had charged former Russian Embassy official Valery Fomin, 53, with drugging and sexually assaulting two men in his apartment on February 24. The paper said Fomin faces two counts of sexual assault and two counts of causing a person to take a stupefying and overpowering drug.
The Russian Embassy in Canada denied the reports.
