TBILISI, June 4 (RIA Novosti) - Ukraine is ready to deploy a peacekeeping contingent in Georgia if Tbilisi's leaders make such a decision, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov said on Wednesday.
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has repeatedly called for changes to be made to the peacekeeping arrangement in the country's conflict zone with breakaway Abkhazia, and asked other countries to contribute.
"Ukraine has solid experience in peacekeeping operations in many countries," he said. "We are ready to work where our top command tells us to."
The minister is currently on a two-day official visit to Georgia to discuss military and defense cooperation with his Georgian counterpart David Kezerashvili, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and members of the country's government.
