MOSCOW, December 5 (RIA Novosti) - An Aeroflot flight to Moscow officially reopened on Friday Thailand's Bangkok international airport, two days after the opposition had called off protests against the country's prime minister.

Protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy forced the closure of Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport a week ago, stranding some 300,000 tourists as part of a long-running campaign to oust Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.

The ceremony to mark the resumption of full operations was held at the airport, which handles around 40 million passengers a year, at 11:00 a.m. local time (04:00 GMT).

The airport will be "open for full services including check-in and immigration," The Bangkok Post cited airport director Serirat Prasutanont as saying.

Suvarnabhumi is expected to handle 550 flights and up to 80,000 travelers on Friday.

The move comes two days after the opposition called off its protests following a decision by the Thai Constitutional Court to dismiss the premier. The first international departure was made on Wednesday to Sydney.

Despite the fact that the protests are over, airline officials and Bangkok-based ambassadors of Australia, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and the U.S. voiced concerns about the airport's security problems.

They urged the Thai government "to take all necessary measures to improve the protection and security of all Thai airports," The Bangkok Post said.
