Some 2,000 passengers were trapped under the English Channel when four trains broke down inside the underwater tunnel on Friday night.
The extreme difference in outside temperature and the temperature inside the tunnel caused the locomotives of the four Eurostar express trains to stop functioning.
Two of the trains were pushed out of the tunnel by diesel locomotives.
All of the passengers were evacuated from the tunnel by 6:00 in the morning local time on Saturday. The tunnel was closed Saturday morning.
Passengers have crowded the train stations in both Britain and France waiting for service to be renewed.
