Pyongyang and Seoul are on the verge of a military crisis but Russia and China will try to prevent conflict breaking out on the Korean Peninsula, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday.
"Both Russia and China are deeply concerned over what is happening now. The Korean Peninsula is virtually on the verge of military and political crisis," Lavrov said at a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Beijing.
The statement comes as tensions grew on the Korean Peninsula after the United States and South Korea accused the North of sinking a South Korean warship with the loss of 46 lives.
