U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will arrive in Georgia on July 5 to discuss bilateral cooperation, a Georgian deputy foreign minister said on Monday.
"Priority issues of bilateral cooperation will be considered. Specific issues in the framework of the United States-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership will be also discussed," David Jalagania said.
The Charter between Georgia and the United States aimed at increasing cooperation in defense, trade, energy and other areas was signed in January 2009 in Washington.
Secretary Clinton visits Georgia as part of her East European tour July 1-5, during which she will also travel to Poland and the former Soviet states of Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the visits to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, Clinton "will hold meetings with government officials and civil society leaders to discuss bilateral issues, as well as issues related to regional peace and stability," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said citing the U.S. Department of State.
In Ukraine, Secretary Clinton will open the second meeting of the Strategic Partnership Commission and meet with President Yanukovych and Foreign Minister Kostyantyn Hryshchenko.
