Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi is in Baku to discuss the development of military cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as regional security, the Azerbaijani news agency APA said on Monday.
"I hope that the meetings I will hold in Baku will be of benefit for our countries and the whole region," Ahmad Vahidi said after arriving in the Azerbaijani capital.
"This is very important issue for the five littoral states, including Iran and Azerbaijan. We will discuss issues significant for both countries," Vahidi said.
Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are also expected to visit Azerbaijan later this year, the agency said earlier.
