Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama discussed Syria in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, a Kremlin spokesman said.
Dmitry Peskov said their assessments generally coincided but there were some differences in approaches toward the resolution of the ongoing crisis.
The two presidents agreed that the situation in Syria “is worsening” and pledged to stay in close contact on the issue.
The conversation was initiated on the U.S. side.
