RIA Novosti was told at the Department of Press and Information of the Russian Foreign Ministry that participants in the bilateral Russian-Chinese consultations, held on Monday in Moscow, concerning the North Korean nuclear problem assessed them as useful and "have agreed to continue close interaction in the interest of settling the situation on the Korean Peninsula".
During the consultations, "mutual interest in the earliest holding of the second round of the six-lateral negotiations in Beijing was expressed", stressed the Russian Foreign Ministry.
For the Russian side, the consultations were attended by Yevgeni Afanasyev, director of the first department for Asia, and for the Chinese side by Nin Fukui, ambassador-at-large for problems of the Korean Peninsula of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Nin Fukui was received for a conversation by Alexander Losyukov, Russian deputy foreign minister.
