Foreign ministers of seven SAARC member states in the presence of heads of state signed an agreement on free trade zone and an additional protocol on fight against terrorism.
The heads of state also endorsed the Islamabad Declaration that sums up the summit's results and defines ways and directions for cooperation.
In his final word Prime Minister of Pakistan Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who is also the SAARC chairman, pointed out that the region needed peace and stability for successful economic, social and cultural development.
Apart from the two agreements and the joint declarations, the summit's participants signed a Social Charter that defines joint action of the region's countries to campaign for human rights, as well as a plan of fight against poverty, Jamali said.
The next SAARC summit will be held in the capital of Bangladesh, Dacca, in January 2005.
