RUSSIAN ARTISTS TO PERFORM DURING HUE FESTIVAL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

HANOI, JANUARY 7, 2004, /RIA-NOVOSTI CORRESPONDENT THU HUONG/ -- Hue, the ancient capital of Vietnam, is to host its traditional culture festival June 12-20, 2004. The forthcoming Hue festival is to involve Russian artists for the first time ever. Talking to RIA-NOVOSTI, city-administration officials noted that this invitation highlighted expanded bilateral cooperation in the field of culture.

Apart from Russian performers, the festival is to involve culture-and-artistic delegations from France, China and Argentina.

The Hue festival is seen as the second most important cultural-and-historical event in Vietnam this year. First of all, the people of Vietnam are to celebrate the 50-th anniversary of their victory in Dien Bien Fu. Meanwhile the Hue festival stipulates about 150 different events in the field of music, as well as theatrical and circus performances. Among other things, the festival is to feature a Hue court-music program, which is listed by UNESCO among other global spiritual-heritage masterpieces.
