According to the president's executive apparatus, the talks highlighted the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (a Turkish port in the Mediterranean) oil pipeline and the implementation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum (eastern Turkey) gas pipeline project.
As for regional problems, Ilkham Aliyev stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was the main problem. He also added that Azerbaijan had always felt Turkey's support in this issue.
On Saturday Abdullah Gul also met Azerbaijan's parliamentary speaker Murtuz Aleskerov to consider the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Yesterday, Abdullah Gul met his Azeri counterpart Vilayat Guliyev and Prime Minister Artur Rasizade behind closed doors. According to the Azeri foreign ministry, the talks focused on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and also those linked to the Nato summit due in summer 2004 in Istanbul.
