DAMASCUS, January 13. /RIA Novosti correspondent Alexander Krasnov/. Syrian president Bashar Assad highly assesses relations with Russia and favors their development.
He said this on Tuesday, meeting in Damascus with a delegation of the Federation Council (upper house of the parliament) led by the coordinator of the Russian-Arab interparliamentary association, Ramazan Abdulatipov.
During the meeting the Syrian president also stressed the need to develop Syrian-Russian relations in all fields.
For his turn, Ramazan Abdulatipov stated that Syria has always been Russia's reliable friend in the Middle East.
During the talk held, the sides discussed the situation in the Middle East, as well as bilateral relations. The sides confirmed their mutual desire to develop the relations of friendship connecting the two countries.
