GDP GROWS BY 6.9 PERCENT IN RUSSIA IN 2003

MOSCOW, January 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Economic Development and Trade Ministry has summed up the final results of Russia's development in 2003.

The industrial growth totaled 7 percent and the growth of Gross Domestic Product - no less than 6.9 percent. Economic Development and Trade Minister German Gref gave these data at the Russian President's meting with cabinet members in the Kremlin on Monday.

According to him, the final data on the GDP growth will be ready by the middle of the week.

According to Vice Premier, Minister of Agriculture, Alexei Gordeyev, in 2004 Russia is to increase food grain production "because the demand for grain is constantly growing and the price situation in the world market is favorable." The production of protein products will be increased, as well, he noted.
