MOSCOW, January 22 (RIA Novosti) - At a meeting Thursday, Russia's Central Election Committee refused to register Viktor Gerashchenko as a presidential candidate.
The Committee's resolution states that "the candidate in question failed to present a nominee list with signatures of supporters which contradicts the federal law "on Russian presidential elections." Gerashchenko, the former chairman of the Russian Central Bank was nominated as a candidate for presidency by the Russian Regions Party, a member party of the Homeland election bloc.
