MOSCOW, JANUARY 23. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- In line with the International Labour Organisation procedure, in the end of December 2003 6,043,000 people, or 8.9 percent of the economically active population, were ranked as unemployed in Russia, said the Russian State Statistics Committee on Friday.
The figure is 5.4 percent above the 2002 indicator, when the number of Russia's jobless was 5,734,000.
The number of Russia's economically active population in late December 2003 was 70.9 million people, or 50 percent of the country's total.
