MOSCOW, JANUARY 30 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Russia has no objections to an international inspection of its vacated military base in Gudauta, Abkhazia, says Lev Mironov, Ambassador at Large of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

His statement came in reply to spokesmen of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as they announced Tbilisi insisting on international monitoring of the project.

Russia sees no reason whatsoever to object to the base inspected by a mission of OSCE countries. The base has been closed down and vacated, on which Russia made a proper announcement - and the mission can confirm the fact, if it has a related mandate, said the diplomat.

Russia announced the Gudauta base closed in 2002 in compliance with Istanbul summit understandings of 1999.
