According to the orchestra's press secretary, Margarita Melnikova, both works will be played on the initiative of the orchestra's art director Vladimir Fedoseyev.
The concert will take place within the framework of Fedoseyev's Low Price Symphony Season Tickets Social and Enlightenment Programme.
Back in 1997, the head of the Grand Symphony Orchestra revived the Conservatoire's old tradition of selling tickets at a reasonable price, which even low-income citizens can afford, for a cycle of six concerts. "This unprecedented programme pursues the aim of making it possible for the intelligentsia, who do not have big money, to continue to listen classic music in a worthy performance," explained Melnikova.
The programme of such concerts is drawn up in such a way as to give these people a chance to receive an esthetic enjoyment and at the same time to acquaint them with classic music of different epochs, including those which are rarely performed.
Vladimir Fedoseyev invites outstanding conductors and musicians, both Russian and foreign, and he himself pays them their fees, often incredibly high, and also covers all other expenses. A year ago, his orchestra received the grant of the President of the Russian Federation.
