MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 4. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- Everything possible must be done for Iraq to gain territorial sovereignty, Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told a briefing on Wednesday.
"I've reported to Igor Ivanov results of the meeting in Teheran, where Iran voiced readiness to promote stabilisation in Iraq", he said.
Frattini confirmed the leading role of the United Nations in regulating the situation in Iraq.
The Italian foreign minister stated the proximity of positions of Italy and Russia on the Middle East.
"Igor Ivanov and I have come to an agreement on the need for Israelis and Palestinians to observe their commitments in keeping with the Roadmap plan", he said.
Frattini also noted the positive role Russia is to play in Georgia and ensure its territorial integrity.
