MOSCOW, February 25, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Makarov). Head of the Russian Central Election Commission Alexander Veshnyakov believes that the cabinet dismissal will make the elections more interesting.

"The government dismissal will influence the presidential election campaign. This move will make the elections more interesting and purposeful," Veshnyakov told journalists.

According to him, Vladimir Putin's decision to dismiss the government corresponds with the Russian Constitution and the election legislation.

Alexander Veshnyakov believes that the cabinet dismissal "will make the elections more democratic and open because the new premier and key ministers will be know before March 14". "Not only the presidential nominee but also his team will be offered to voters," said the head of the Russian Central Election Commission.

However, "such openness has its disadvantages," Veshnyakov noted. In his words, "the more open you are, the more questions you may be asked".
