Earlier, an American newspaper wrote that the international company SMB Computers, having a branch in Kazakhstan, is suspected of uranium contraband from Kazakhstan to Iran and Libya.
"Checks have found that SMB Computers and its branches in Kazakhstan have not been registered," says the statement of the Kazakh National Security Committee circulated in Astana on Wednesday. "They are not listed among the organisations granted a permission for export-import operations with nuclear materials subject to export control by the Kazakh Industry and Trade Ministry ".
The statement also reads that Kazakhstan now firmly adheres to the non-proliferation principles. All its nuclear materials are kept under strict control of the state.
"In keeping with the agreement signed between Kazakhstan and the IAEA, all the nuclear facilities of Kazakhstan and all the nuclear potential under the jurisdiction of Kazakhstan have been safeguarded by the said international organization," the document reads.
