MOSCOW, FEBRUARY 27 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Flight safety was inadequate last year, Vladimir Mikhailov, in command of the Russian Air Force, said with alarm as he was receiving military attaches.

The Russian Air Force had quiet days, mid-2002 into mid-2003, which had an abrupt and tragic end with numerous accidents. All had the human factor to blame.

While paying great attention to young pilot training, Russia overlooked the more experienced airmen - hence the crashes. Nevertheless, Russia has not exceeded an average air accident occurrence rate, unlike many other countries, added General Mikhailov.
