TBILISI, February 28, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent Marina Kvaratskhelia). The Tbilisi district court upheld the decision of the Mtatsminda-Krtsanissky court on the three-month imprisonment before trial of ex-President Eduard Shevradnadze's son-in-law Georgy Dzhokhtaberidze.
The district court did not take into account the intention of Dzhokhtaberidze's family to stand a bail of 2 million lari (1 lari = 0.5 US dollar) for him.
No appeal lies against the court decision.
The Georgian Prosecutor General's Office accused Dzhokhtaberidze, a co-founder of the Magti cellphone company, of major tax evasion - 700,000 lari.
