UFA, March 2 (RIA Novosti - Volga Area) - Murtaza Rakhimov, President of Bashkortostan (Russian republic in the Volga Federal District), backed Mikhail Fradkov as a candidate for premiership.
"I believe Mr Fradkov is a worthy candidate," the president told reporters. According to Mr Rakhimov, Mr Fradkov is professional, he knows the country's potential as he has always been in the thick of things and, which is also important, he is not linked to any of the political groups.
The Bakhkir president is positive Mr Fradkov, if his candidature is approved by the State Duma, will start a tough and efficient campaign against corruption.
"I am positive the cabinet reshuffles will do good to Russia," said President Rakhimov.
