This was said to RIA Novosti by a high-ranking source in the OPEC general secretariat in Vienna.
"Even Saudi Arabia, the main producer of oil within in OPEC, has spoken up for observing the decision of the 129th Algiers conference despite the extremely high prices on oil from the joint basket of OPEC and Mexico, which are dominating on the world energy exchanges", the source said.
"OPEC fears that, in the second quarter of this year, a considerable fall in demand for oil fuels will be observed, which may affect the price of crude", he said.
In addition, in case of "excessive oil proposals, the main countries-consumers of the hydrocarbon raw material, above all the United States, may replenish their strategic reserves of oil so much that future proposals, anyway in the second quarter, may "hang in mid-air".
The 130th OPEC conference with the participation of representatives from the observer countries, such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Oman, Angola and other producers of oil not making part of OPEC will be held in Vienna on March 31.
The conference "will consider matters of the OPEC strategy before the end of this year", the source said.
