With three hours left before the end of the work of the polling station, over 300 people have already cast their votes, which has already exceeded the expected attendance, said the diplomat.
Strict security measures have been taken to protect the voting station against accidents, added Kinshchak.
"In order to prevent Russian citizens working at the electric power station construction project in Youssefiyah 30 kilometres off Baghdad from risking their lives, an away electoral commission has gone there," said the embassy official.
He also reported that the tensions in Iraq had barred Russian builders in El-Nassiriyah and el-Moussaib from voting.
"We are certain nevertheless that an overwhelming majority of electors have already cast their votes," says the chairman of the electoral commission, Alexey Solomatin, the Russian embassy's counsellor in Baghdad.
The results of the voting will become known Friday night, he added.
