BRUSSELS, March 15, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - European Commission President Romano Prodi congratulated Vladimir Putin on his victory in the presidential elections.
Romano Prodi came out for successful reforms of Russian society under Vladimir Putin's leadership. He also expressed the hope for Russia's contribution into mutual understanding and peace on the planet.
"I expect our further cooperation and consolidation of Russia-EU relations," Prodi said.
The European Commission President is convinced that his forthcoming visit to Moscow on April 22 will be an important move in this direction.
