"I do not see any necessity to correct the concept of Russia's foreign policy, at any rate with regard to its strategic trends," he said. "But we shall have to work actively to put them into practice," the Foreign Minister added.
He reminded the audience of the recent pronouncements of Vladimir Putin. "We shall try to guarantee the achievement of Russian national interests, not sliding down to confrontation and aggression," pointed out the minister.
According to him, Moscow will show flexibility in the achievement of compromises with its partners. Among them Sergei Lavrov named the United States, the European Union, India, China, Japan, the Asian and South American countries.
At the same time the Russian minister pointed out that life does not stand still, and "in every numerous trends of Russia's foreign policy events, which do not fit in with any of the schemes, always take place." Yet, he said, Russia would strive to solve these problems without confrontation.
"But there will be no corrections in principle," the Russian Foreign Minister underscored once again.
