COMMUNISTS TO DISCUSS THEIR PLANS

MOSCOW, March 18, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The Presidium of the Russian Communist Party's Central Committee (TsK KPRF) will sum up the presidential campaign on Thursday evening and discuss further plans of the Communist Party and the People's Patriotic Union of Russia (NPSR). The session will be held in the usual closed format.

The official agenda that RIA Novosti learnt in the party's press service only includes discussion of the date and program of the TsK KPRF's session tentatively scheduled for March 27.

Meanwhile, the relationship between the KPRF and NPSR are far from ideal and seem to be further aggravating.

Earlier, Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov slammed the initiators of the Left-Wingers' Congress of March 19. Neither the TsK KPRF presidium nor the NPSR Co-ordination Council took any decisions about the Congress," he said. The leader of the party described the Congress as ill-wishers' "attempts to destroy the party and the entire left-wing movement." Gennady Semigin, chairman of the NPSR executive committee, initiated the Congress of the Left-Wing Forces. He and Zyuganov have long been in conflict over the Communist Party's role in the left-wing movement and its allies.
