In particular, Islamabad has received information about Takhir Yuldashev, leader of Uzbekistan's Islamic Movement (IDU) that once joined Al Qaeda, the Nation newspaper reported on Monday with reference to diplomatic sources.
The publication said that this information was essential for the military operation in Southern Vaziristan.
Earlier, chief of Pakistan's military information service Shaukat Sultan said that the operation had left Yuldashev wounded. However, Sultan continued, he has not been detained yet.
Besides, over 60 foreign militants and their local accomplices were eliminated, several hundreds wounded and 160 captured.
Yuldashev became the IDU leader in late 2001 after the previous leader, Dzhuma Namangani, was eliminated by a US air strike in Afghanistan. Before that, in 1999, Yuldashev was sentenced to death in Tashkent for perpetrating a series of terrorist attacks.
The operation in Vaziristan has been almost completed, and all the set tasks fulfilled, General Sultan said at a press conference in the Russian foreign ministry.
