Mr. Pigozzi is participating in the 4th International scientific forum "ReaSpoMed-2004. Medicine. Health. Sports. Olympics", which opened on Tuesday in Moscow.
According to him, the previous time he was in Moscow in 1991, when Roma met with Moscow TsSKA within the framework of the UEFA Cup qualifiers. Back then Roma defeated TsSKA 2:1 and despite its later defeat in the return match in Italy 0:1, Roma reached the next round.
"We arrived in Moscow after the August 1991 coup and to tell the truth the city didn't impress us at all. Today, I came to a beautiful modern city and would like to see its all sightseeings with pleasure," Mr. Pigozzi noted.
When three weeks ago Roma and Russian company Nafta-Moscow failed to come to any agreement, many in Italy were disappointed, Mr. Pigozzi said. "Roma's fans wouldn't like if good players, such as Totti, start living the club due to its financial problems. Financial means from a serious Russian company could have enhanced our football club and give it the stability, necessary for future victories," Roma's ex-doctor said.
However, many Italian newspapers report that the contacts between Roma and Russians were not completely lost and it gives us certain optimism that the agreement would eventually be reached, Mr. Pigozzi noted.
